At Sheikh Hasina National Youth Center , At Sheikh Hasina National Youth Center, Association to Assist the Under Privileged (ASAUP) along with the ministry of foreign affairs and Ministry of youth hosted the first ever SAARC youth CAMP in 2007. Chief adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed Monday launched the First SAARC Youth Camp in Savar and also urged young people to engage more in nation-building.
The interim government head said the youth camp was an indication of SAARC's determination to connect the "minds and hearts" of South Asian people.
"This youth camp is an indication of SAARC's determination to ... generate greater cohesion and understanding and bridge the gap that may still exist in the mindsets of regional countries," he said in his written statement.
"It is aimed at bringing the young people of South Asia under one roof, thereby creating an environment for closer interaction among those very people who will lead us to face the challenges of the new millennium," he said.
Association to Assist the Under Privileged (ASAUP) along with the ministry of foreign affairs and Ministry of youth hosted this first ever SAARC youth CAMP. Association to Assist the Under Privileged (ASAUP) was the proud title sponsor of this youth camp. Participants from SAARC countries were taken to several historic places such as the National Parliament Building the Bangabandhu Novo Theatre etc. The organization is not only confined with the national borders. It has worked alongside with the ministries and played a proud role in representing our country as well. For making the program a success Superintending Engineer, Engr. Md. Shaheb Ullah P. Eng., Waste Management Division, Dhaka City Corporation has expressed his king gratitude in a letter of appreciation.
Foreign affairs adviser Ifthekhar Ahmed Chowdhury and youth participants Saugat Das from India and Nazmus Sadat from the host country also spoke at the function at the National Youth Centre in Savar.
